Billing-Tourist Places in and around Billing
The temple of Baijnath, attracts a lot of visitors from all over the world. The temple was built by two merchant brothers, Manyuka and Ahuka, in 804 A.D. Inside the temple, is the 'lingam' of Vaidyanatha lord Shiva. Most of the people visit this temple in the hope that the 'Lord of Physicians' will free them of any kind of ailment that they or their loved ones might be suffering from. Another interesting thing about this place is the water here. Many claim that the water at Baijnath possess excellent digestive properties, may be that explains why rulers of the Kangra valley used to drink water brought from Baijnath.
Close to Baijnath, is the beautiful town of Bir. The village which is 14 kms away from Baijnath, is famous for an annual fair, which is related to Holi festival. The closest airport is in Kangra, at Guggal. From this airport, there are straight flights to Delhi.
The nearest railhead is at Pathankot. There is even an overnight train from Delhi to Pathankot.
One can easily get to Billing or Bir by bus. You can either take a bus from delhi or from any other major town in Himachal Pradesh. One can get to Billing by hired cabs or jeeps too.
